Community Acupuncture

Treatment at Community Acupuncture

What is Community Acupuncture?

This is a group acupuncture setting, meaning treatments are conducted in the same room on reclining chairs rather than treatment tables in a private room. It’s a little like how many chiropractors work with several tables in the same room.

Can you still do full treatments this way?

Yes! While this style can’t accommodate other modalities like cupping, guasha, or e-stim, we can still treat any condition just using points from elbows down, knees down, and on the head.

How long are sessions?

About an hour, typically, but you actually get to choose! Once the needles are in, you can relax as long as you want. We recommend at least 20 minutes (for about 30 minutes total time from arriving to leaving), but many choose to stay for an hour or more.

How much does it cost?

The fee is sliding scale, $40-60. Whatever feels comfortable for you in that range! There is an extra one-time fee of $20 for new patients to do the initial intake.

Do I need an appointment?

Community Clinic accepts walk-ins! However, if you’d like to reserve a chair for a specific time, we can schedule appointments ahead of time. Walk-ins are first-come seating. New patients must schedule their first appointment ahead of time.

How does it work for new patients?

New patients will need to schedule their time so I can plan accordingly. At a first appointment, we will spend about 15-20 minutes in a private room going over health information, concerns, and goals. Then we will come into the community room and give the treatment as usual.

What else do I need to know?

The clinic is held on Tuesdays from 3:30pm-7pm, with the last appointment available at 6:30 (or 6:10 for new patients)

Wear loose-fitting clothing so I can easily get to as high as your knees and elbows

Athena (my dog) will not be at Community Acupuncture; we just don’t know who might want to try this style who aren’t okay with dogs, so for now Athena will stay home on Community days
